David Slade Confirmed As Director of Eclipse by Summit Entertainment
Kick ass British director David Slade will be directing Eclipse, a sequel to Twilight and New Moon. It has been confirmed by Summit Entertainment and I’m excited beyond words. At last a Twilight series movie has bad ass director. Eclipse will wipe Twilight and New Moon off the table with David Slade on directors chair.
David Slade directed 30 Days of Night – a vampire movie that takes place in Alaska. Even though 30 Days of Night was a violent vampire movie, it at least shows that David Slade has experience with filming vampires and knows how to add suspense to a motion picture and keep it captivating. Plus if you’ve seen 30 Days of Night you surely know it rocked. Unless of course you’re some form of weird prep who doesn’t know any better.
Get this – David Slade also directed music videos for such artists as Aphex Twin, System of a Down, Tori Amos, Stone Temple Pilots and Muse. Aphex Twin and System of a Down? Seriously, how bad ass is David Slade? I’m 100% positive that this is the right director for a vampire movie.
Summit Entertainment made the announcement official yesterday. The screenplay for Eclipse will be once again written by Melissa Rosenberg and with release date set to June 30, 2010, Summit Entertainment decided to hire different director to take care of Eclipse as Chris Weitz may not have time to look after necessary pre-production. That’s a side note for me – what I care about is the fact that Summit Entertainment eventually picked right man for the job.
Stephenie Meyer, author of Twilight books said:
I am thrilled that David Slade will be directing ECLIPSE. He’s a visionary filmmaker who has so much to offer this franchise. From the beginning, we’ve been blessed with wonderful directorial talent for the Twilight Saga, and I’m so happy that ECLIPSE will be carrying on with that tradition.
