Michael Sheen as Aro – Volturi Vampire Leader in New Moon

Michael Sheen as Werewolf Lucian in Underworld

Michael Sheen, an actor who played Lucian – leader of the Lycans in Underworld movies has been cast to play the role of Volturi vampire leader Aro in New Moon movie. Michael Sheen is a great actor and his presence in New Moon will definitely make for an even stronger movie than Twilight. New Moon director Chris Weitz has allegedly strongly pursued Michael Sheen.

Obviously since Michael Sheen played a role in Underworld, New Moon will not be his first vampire related movie. Even though Underworld has brought some personal troubles for him, as that’s when his long term relationship with Kate Beckinsale (they both starred in Underworld) with whom he has a daughter Lily Mo Sheen (born on January 31, 1999) has ended. Kate Beckinsale left Michael Sheen for Underworld director Len Wiseman whom she later married.

Michael Sheen will be playing Aro – the leaders of the Volturi vampire coven from Italy and a head of all vampires worldwide. In the book, Aro is a vampire who after he has touched the person, he can read every thought that person has ever had. From the outside, Aro seems as a friendly and gracious vampire, but deep within he’s a deadly threat. The character of Aro deserved a quality actor and I think Michael Sheen was a great choice. He made a great werewolf in Underworld. I’m sure he will make even better vampire in New Moon.
