Music Composer Alexandre Desplat who previously composed the score for Chris Weitz’s movie The Golden Compass has been hired to compose the score for Twilight sequel New Moon. That means that Carter Burwell – the composer of Twilight music, including scores like Bella’s Lullaby will not be returning to write the score for New Moon.
The news was first revealed by Carter Burwell himself who posted the info on his website CarterBurwell.com. His work on Twilight was definitely great, but I trust the judgment of director Chris Weitz who seems to know what he’s doing. Hopefully getting Alexandre Desplat involved with New Moon proves to be a positive move. Hopefully Chris Weitz did not hire Alexandre Desplat just becuase he wrote music score for his previous movie and they’re good buddies. That would be a blow below the belt for all twilight fans. However this is going overboard. Chris Weitz seems to be really involved with New Moon and perhaps he’s switched music composers because he is sure Alexandre Desplat will deliver better results than Carter Burwell. We’ll just have to wait until New Moon is released to see whether Alexandre Desplat was a good choice or not.
